    Sleeping Well in Pregnancy

    Posted on April 16th, 2007.

As you get later in your pregnancy, you may begin to slow down and feel more exhausted. It’s important to get enough rest now, even though it can be more difficult to sleep as you get larger.

The baby’s movements, bathroom runs, and an increase in your body’s metabolism can make sleeping difficult which is frustrating when you would like nothing more than to curl up and be comfortable. While you probably won’t get a good night’s rest for some time now, there are a few things you can do to get the best sleep you can.

Try these tips for sleeping in the last three months of pregnancy:

    • avoid eating large meals three hours before going to bed
    • do mild exercise like walking
    • avoid taking long naps during the day

talk with your partner, friends, doctor or midwife to relieve stress

There are also nifty things called “Pregnancy Pillows” that some women find helpful. A pregnancy pillow is a full body pillow that helps to support your belly.
